Daily Dental Care For Stronger Teeth and Gums

Brushing the teeth with a soft bristled brush and a flouride-based toothpaste, cleansing of the mouth

with an anti-bacterial mouthwash and flossing daily is your best defense against the onset of teeth and gum disease. All of those sounds simple enough, but if you don’t know the important details about dental and periodontal care, the less effective you will be in fully strengthening your teeth against bacterial infection, cavities and tartar.

1.      The thing about brushing is you just simply can’t brush your teeth in a haphazard manner. There is a guideline that have been taught over the years on the proper way of brushing the teeth so as to cover all the enamel and brush away the food debris that may be lodged not only on the surface but also in between the teeth and even on the gum line. A lot of wasted money for gum disease treatment, effort and so much discomfort could have been avoided if people listened to what has been taught to them since they were little.

2.      Always use a soft bristled brush. A lot of folks make the mistake that all toothbrushes are made the same. Some get the cheapest brush that they see instead of truly looking into the best made and quality brushes. Though some brushes have a varying price tag, make sure you don’t forget the kind that you are picking. Make sure the bristles are made from teeth-friendly materials and effective in sweeping cavities away. Make sure that the size and shape of the toothbrush is not uncomfortable to use.

3.      When starting off with brushing the teeth, place it on the gum line or where the gum and tooth come together, with the bristle lined along the tooth that it covers at a 45-degree angle. Moving the brush back and forth will require you to use short but wide strokes, making sure that the teeth is covered. Brush the outer enamel of the tooth first and after that the inner surface of the tooth and finally the chewing surface of the teeth. This ensures that food debris will be swept away, preventing bacteria from feasting on it.

Good hygiene will take you far, but if you are a high-risk for periodontal disease, your best bet to cure gum disease is to schedule a visit with your dentist and get professional cleaning done. There is nothing to replace professional care when it comes to one of the important facets of our health.
